    A Sky Airlines flight from Santiago de Chile to Calama was evacuated Monday due to a bomb threat made by a passenger during the boarding process. Emergency protocols were activated by Chile's General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC), leading to the disembarkation of all passengers and crew. The Carabineros' Special Operations Group (GOPE) is investigating the incident. A passenger allegedly noticed a suspicious bag inside the aircraft, prompting the security response. One person has been detained as part of the ongoing investigation.

    Chilean Minister of Finance Jose Ramon Valente, via its official Twitter account, announced a “20% reduction in the boarding taxes, which will reduce air fares” in the country, both for international and domestic flights. He added “traveling overseas no longer is a privilege for the well off”.

    Sky Airlines begins operating in Chile as a low-cost carrier

    Sky Airlines has a fleet of fifteen Airbus 320 and 319, which among other places flies to Punta Arenas, extreme south of Chile.

    As of next Friday, Chile's Sky Airlines becomes a budget or low cost airline with no food served on board, and at the most a soft drink. This is part of the changes to be implemented during the next 12 months by Holger Paulmann CEO and owner of the airline which was started by his father Jürgen Paulmann.
