  Falklands, new Commander (Artillery) of British Forces South Atlantic Islands

  

  A new Commander of the British Forces South Atlantic Islands (CBFSAI) has been appointed. Brigadier Charlie Harmer took up the role from outgoing CBF Brigadier Daniel Duff on Saturday, June 13, one day before the Falkland Islands’ Liberation Day celebrations.

  Falklands agrees to education facilities for secondary age children from MPC

  

  Falkland Islands Executive Council (ExCo) has agreed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) be signed between the Falkland Islands Government (FIG) and the UK Ministry of Defense (MOD) that will allow secondary-age children from Mount Pleasant Complex (MPC) to board at Stanley House and study at the Falkland Islands Community School (FICS) from the start of the 2025 academic year.

  Falklands, Defense completes major improvement project in strategic Mounts

  

  UK’s Defense Infrastructure Organization (DIO) has completed the final phase of a major improvement program at one of the most remote sites on the Defense estate in the Falkland Islands. A new modular accommodation block at Byron Heights has now been handed over, marking the end of a four-year infrastructure project, delivered on behalf of Strategic Command.

  Falklands, 40th anniversary of Mount Pleasant Complex and its air, sea and land military facilities

  

  Mount Pleasant Complex is marking its 40th year as an Royal Air Force fighter and transport presence in the Falkland Islands. Some fitty three kilometers southwest of the capital, Stanley, MPC was officially opened on 12 May 1985 by Prince Andrew, and became fully operational the following year, May 1986, making it the newest permanent air base for the RAF.

  Falklands, new engineering support for HMS Forth and MPC

  

  In the windswept South Atlantic, the Naval Engineering Falkland Islands (NEFI) team has consistently been an important supporting element of the Royal Navy’s regional operations, mainly with HMS Forth stationed at MPC. Marking a major change in their organizational structure, the former NEFI team has become part of Forward Support Unit (FSU) Archimedes.

  Falklands holds largest volleyball tournament in Islands history; in three weeks Chile tour

  

  The Tumbledown Hall at Mount Pleasant Complex was buzzing with energy on Saturday as it hosted the largest volleyball tournament in the history of the Falkland Islands. A total of 14 teams gathered for the highly anticipated “MPC Inter-department Volleyball Tournament,” which followed a knockout format and showcased some exceptional volleyball talent.
