A new Commander of the British Forces South Atlantic Islands (CBFSAI) has been appointed. Brigadier Charlie Harmer took up the role from outgoing CBF Brigadier Daniel Duff on Saturday, June 13, one day before the Falkland Islands’ Liberation Day celebrations.

UK’s Defense Infrastructure Organization (DIO) has completed the final phase of a major improvement program at one of the most remote sites on the Defense estate in the Falkland Islands. A new modular accommodation block at Byron Heights has now been handed over, marking the end of a four-year infrastructure project, delivered on behalf of Strategic Command.

In the windswept South Atlantic, the Naval Engineering Falkland Islands (NEFI) team has consistently been an important supporting element of the Royal Navy’s regional operations, mainly with HMS Forth stationed at MPC. Marking a major change in their organizational structure, the former NEFI team has become part of Forward Support Unit (FSU) Archimedes.

The Tumbledown Hall at Mount Pleasant Complex was buzzing with energy on Saturday as it hosted the largest volleyball tournament in the history of the Falkland Islands. A total of 14 teams gathered for the highly anticipated MPC Inter-department Volleyball Tournament, which followed a knockout format and showcased some exceptional volleyball talent.
Starting on Monday March 03 and until 07 March, the RIC (Roulement Infantry Company) stationed at MPC in the Falkland Islands will be conducting Exercise Cape Kukri II.
The Falkland Islands offer RAF fast jet pilots unparalleled freedom to train, given the almost clear skies and no other traffic. And 1435 Flt stationed at MPC have been operating on the Islands since 1986 equipped with Phantoms, Tornado F3, and Typhoon.
